DOIs are unique, persistent identifiers. They are used to identify many things, including datasets. When identifying datasets, placing a DOI into a web-browser will show a landing page. Typically this contains information on how to download the data; however, this info is intended for human consumption: it doesn't support automation.

This mailing list supports the LEAPS IT Special Interest Group (SIG) that is working on a common approach for allowing access to data. The goal is to allow access to (e.g., download) the files in a dataset given only the DOI.

The list is configured to archive all posts, which all list members may view. This is in accordance with the DESY privacy policy[1][2]. Please do not use this list if you do not want your emails stored in this list's archive.
